Hair Cut and Colour Trends 2022 with Nathan Yip - Part Two: Women's

Never one to shy from the opportunity to chat hair, Nathan Yip and MCM Beauty stretched the coffee break into lunch and delved deep into the subject of 2022 trends for women.

Nathan is the director of Pretty Vacant and an ambassador for ANTI Collective. He likes to use his fingers to coax out the best in a woman's hair and mix products like an artist to get the perfect texture for creating his 'luxe meets the streets' signature look.

What are your favourite women's cut and styling trends for the season ahead?
I love a bob, always have, I think things are getting a little shorter, more French. I love that my clients trust me, and are embracing their natural texture, which allows things to get a little looser and more romantic.
Gorgeous Bela Palacio’s loose textured bob is a great example.

Key ANTI products for achieving these looks?
ANTI finishing cream and texture spray - amazing combo for definition, manageability and effortless style. The formulas are beautiful too, vegan, gluten-free and full of clean, natural ingredients that work for all hair types.

Colour trend prediction for SS 22/23?

Not sure - I think it will either go two ways, people will want to really want to burst out the gates and express their true selves after iso or not waste time and money on maintaining their hair as they are too busy enjoying being free!

Tips on caring for colour during the winter?
Moisture - like your skin or anything porous in winter it tends to dry out and get brittle. Dry cuticles and split ends make even the best colour look dull! Everything Spray layered with Everything Cream will keep your hair looking luscious even during the longest winter night!

What hair trends did you love from the NY shows last month?
The thing that stood out to me was the diversity in the models which directly affects hair texture and look! I loved seeing naturally textured and curly hair, afros and braids! It was wonderful!
Special name checks to Eckhaus LattaTelfar, Christian Siriano and Collina Strada for leading the way.

Thanks to Nathan Yip for his time and sharing his expertise with us ♥︎

Loved!

I’ve only had time to do one blowout with this brush but results were phenomenal. Hair was soft and shiny, and the brush is incredibly light so no arm fatigue. Loved it!!
